MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #51

1. Facebook or Twitter?
I've always been more of a Facebook kinda girl, but these days I'm tweeting more often. I like the fact that I don't feel like a spammer when I update a lot.

2. Hard tacos or soft tacos?
Why must we choose?? I actually prefer my own, which I fry myself. They start off as soft corn tortillas, but after I fry them, they're a little crispy.

3. Gardening or crafting?
Truthfully, I'm not big on either, though I would like to be. After just a few days of helping mom gather tomatoes from her garden, I can see that I would enjoy it. I like that you can see the fruits of your labor. (Pun intended.)

4. Fruits or vegetables?
Vegetables! I never really enjoyed fruit more than occasionally until I was pregnant with KB. I craved pineapple and bananas a lot then, but I've always loved fresh veggies. I guess that stems from growing up with parents and grandparents who gardened.

5. Motorcycle or bicycle?
Motorcycle! I have always been an adrenaline junky. I'm just usually to scared to act on it.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #50

Do you eat raw cookie dough?
Yes. With wreckless abandon do I eat raw cookie dough!  All kinds - but my favorite is chocolate chip.  And sugar.  And oatmeal.  And peanut butter...

When you get online for the first time of the day... what site do you immediately head to?
I always check Facebook first, not sure why.  I remember a time when I felt like getting emails from Facebook spoiled the surprise of seeing my notifications.  How sad is that?

What was your favorite pet as a child and why?
Her name was Kasey, and she was a black lab/pit bull mix.  She was the best dog!  She wandered up one day when I was maybe in first grade.  She would walk us to the bus stop and be waiting in our drive way for the bus to drop us off.  She played hide and seek with us in the woods and then slept with us in our play house.  (She snored).  She listened to our secrets and laid on my lap while I cried.  When I was a Freshman in college, she went to sleep one night and didn't wake up the next day.  My brother called me with the news, and I sat in the kitchen of the restaurant where I worked and cried all afternoon.

If you had a snail that could magically grant wishes, what would you name it?
Well, Speedy, of course.  Is there anything else to name a snail?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
I have absolutely no idea, and no desire to find out.  I didn't even really like them as a kid, much less now.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #49

If you could have a private concert with any singer, who would it be?  submitted by An Air Force Wife's Blog
This one is tough! There are so many singers that I love, but few whose songs I know every word to.  That would be the kicker for me; I'd want to know all of the songs he/she was playing.  For that reason, I choose John Mayer.  I don't, however, really want to hang out with him because he's such a tool.  So John, you just sing and play and make funny faces and I'll listen and dance with my Honey :)

Is there anything you do to supplement your family's income? submitted by Our Life, One Adventure at a Time
Yes!  I coupon, sale-shop, and try my hardest to only buy really good deals.

During your pregnancy (whether past, present, or future), what did you nickname your unborn baby before you knew the sex? submitted by Explosions of Love
KB was both Pumpkin and Baby Fred until we found out she was a girl.  Then, she was still Pumpkin a lot of the time.  I feel weird about using a baby's name before he/she is born.

Have you ever won a blog giveaway?  If so what did you win? submitted by Mrs. O's Life
Nope.  Then again, I've never entered one.

If I looked into your refrigerator right now, what would I find? submitted by Married to the Army
I have no idea, since I myself have not seen my refrigerator in 3 weeks.  I imagine Jason left a pitcher of water, all the condiments, and maybe some eggs and cheese in there.  I seriously hope my sweet husband remembered to remove all the meat and veggies before he left :\

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #48

Does your Significant Other read your blog?  Why is this a good or a bad thing? submitted by Mrs. Alana's Miscellany
Hi, Honey!
Jason reads my blog, and I think it's a good thing.  Sometimes he gets to read the mundane things that are going through my head, but other times he gets to read the things that I can't exactly articulate to him for fear of becoming a blubbering, snotting idiot.

What is one item in your house that holds the most sentimental value and why? submitted by The Albrecht Squad
My jewelry box.  It holds a little bit of all of the most important people in my life. In it are the pieces of jewelry I got for various special occasions from family, the numerous items Jason has given me, and some of my late grandmother's pieces.  Also in this much-loved box are my National Guard Brat coin, my Ombudsman coin, my Betty Lou name tag from Xan's, my Omega Phi Alpha pin, and my Captain Planet ring - 1 of the set of 5 that my four best friends from high school and I each got.  I got heart, just so you know ;)

When it comes to water fun in the summer do you prefer the beach, the pool, a lake, or the sprinklers? submitted byThe Turvo Times

The beach for special occasions, the pool for every day.

What is the one special thing that you do for yourself to get you through the first week of a deployment/separation? submitted by A Creed and a Psalm
I always, always eat dinner out the first night.  I also usually get a pedicure the first week.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure website? submitted by Christine's Little Blog
Facebook is too obvious to count, so I will be more specific and say that it's my Moms of October 2010 Babies group on Facebook.  We all met on the WhatToExpect.com October 2010 board, and many of us still keep up that way.  I love those mommies~!

I finally have a minute to write!

Dear Readers,

Please do not be discouraged by my lack of writing!

I'm kidding.

Many of you are like, "Yeah.. I came across you once in a MilSpouse round up, and followed you because you posted something that kind of made me giggle.  I'm not all into your life, chick."

That's cool!  I do have the occasional witty word or two!  I mean, I'd follow me.. just sayin. (That phrase is entirely over-used, but I continue to use it..)

Moving on.

Our trip home has been great, but it's been whirl-wind!  I actually am feeling a little less stressed on this trip than I did on my 3 previous trips, especially that one where I unexpectedly had a kid 7 weeks early.  That one took the stress cake!

With Mimi during our 4th of July celebration
We've done lots of visiting, and it's been nice.  I miss my besties so very much when we are away.  They truly are the best people I've ever come across.  They are so understanding of my little flaws, especially that one where I tend to overextend myself.  They love me anyway!

KB learning all about Mammaw's homemade delicacies.
Me with *most* of my best friends at the balloon glow
Being with the family has also been wonderful.  KB has taken to all of them just like I knew she would, but she's taken to one family member in such a way that I'm sort of surprised.  Let me tell you, KB LOVES her Uncle Scott!!  Any time he is in the room, she's reaching out for him.  He's even held her a few times, which both surprised me and made me very happy.  You see, Uncle Scott (my first brother) is not a baby person.  At all.

Trying to get Uncle Scott to teach her to text
Another surprising detail is that KB is obsessed with all the dogs in the family.  Hannah, Rikki, and Luther are her new favorite play things.  Well, Luther is.  He's the only one with any actual interest in her.  Poor Sugar, she just can't get Hannah or Rikki to play, no matter how hard she tries!

Loving on Hannah, but Hannah was more interested in the camera.. Sad.
Hannah?  Where you go?
After a big, slobbery kiss from Luther!
In other news, baby girl has taken her first assisted steps, and has grown a toof!  (I really should write tooth, but toof is just so darn fun to say!)  She's also said her first words besides Dada!  That word/words would be Pa-Cay, or, in English, Patty Cake.  She looooves a good game of Patty Cake, and her Mimi was such a good teacher!
